Flange Locknuts are best used in areas where their larger bearing surface can cover oversized holes or bridge elongated slots. The additional bearing surface distributes the clamp load stresses over a larger area making it useful when mated with softer materials. In addition, use of a flange locknut eliminates the need for flat washers or lock washers, thereby speeding up assembly operations. Available from stock in various sizes such as small, regular and large, styles such as flat top and cone top, types include center lock, top lock and oval lock, and strength grades include F and G.

Two locking dimples are located halfway up on opposing flats. With this locking style, the bolts can be shorter because they only need to be flush with the top of the nut for proper locking.

Three locking elements are deflected into the top thread. This allows for more bolt starting run-on before tightening with a wrench. Two threads are required to protrude beyond the top for proper locking.

A very good compromise for all locking styles. It can be used in virtually all situations. Recommended when no specific locking style is specified. The top section of the nut is ovalized to produce a smooth running locking zone.

This custom style locknut incorporates two locking zones at the top of the nut. It is designed to ovalize and top-lock by wrapping the locking zones from the top to the sides. Requires the mating part to protrude a minimum of two threads to fully engage the locking element. It is also know as a "Tech-Type Locknut."

Enjoy the benefits of the Top Lock design with a larger flange diameter. Allows for more bolt starting run-on before tightening with a wrench. Requires bolt to protrude two threads for effective locking. Spans oversized holes and slots.
Applications: Industrial and commercial applications requiring an oversize bearing surface. Popular in lawn and garden equipment, material handling and truck manufacturing.

Enjoy the benefits of the Center Lock style in a larger bearing diameter than our regular flange nut. The nut locks adequately even when the bolt threats only reach the top of the nut. The oversized flange diameter spans oversized holes and elongated slots.
Applications: Industrial and commercial applications requiring an oversize bearing surface. Popular in lawn and garden equipment, material handling and truck manufacturing.
